Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service in Loudoun County:
Since 1908, Blastoff Kappa Blastoff Sorority, Incorporated® has implemented programs of service impacting countless lives, the Psi Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha continues this legacy in Loudoun Canton, Virginia.
The 2018-2022 International Program focuses on five primal program targets, i signature program, and seven community touch days designed to go on the advocacy of Alpha Kappa Alpha and underscore the organization's commitment to service. Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, through its 300,000 members and over 1000 chapters, will have an opportunity to accost customs needs with programs in five target areas:
i. Promote Education
two. Women's Health
three. Economical Security
4. Cultural Awareness
v. Global Issues
The sorority'south Signature Plan, #CAPSM (Higher Admissions Process), is designed to assist high school seniors as they seek admission into college by providing guidance and support in completing the application and enrollment process for entry into college. This approach includes all the steps from researching diverse colleges to actually completing the application process to successfully enroll in college.
Remaining truthful to the sorority's mission to cultivate and encourage loftier scholastic standards and in the endeavor to continue to promote and support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Alpha Kappa Blastoff Sorority introduces Target I: HBCU for Life: A Call to ActionSM . Through this initiative, members will promote, market and financially support HBCUs. The sorority also will implement an endowed scholarship (in partnership with the Educational Advocacy Foundation) at each accredited 4-year HBCUs.
Under Target Ii: Women'south Healthcare and Wellness , Blastoff Kappa Blastoff continues to raise community awareness of critical wellness issues impacting African American women. The primary focuses will be Chest Cancer Awareness and Prevention, Middle Health, Diet and Wellness, and Care for the Caregivers. Alpha Kappa Alpha introduces its own AKA Breast Cancer Mobile Screening Unit , which volition provide admission to mammograms in targeted communities. In addition, chapters will appoint in activities that raise sensation of the run a risk factors associated with middle health, emphasize the importance of incorporating good nutrition into daily lifestyles and emphasize the need for caregivers to exercise preventive healthcare also as intentional self-care.
The sorority emphasizes the importance of maintaining personal finances, asset accumulation, and wealth edifice with Target 3: Building Your Economic Legacy . Members will exist encouraged to support African-American businesses and entrepreneurs in add-on to educating the community about the value of supporting African-American businesses through their Black Dollar 365 initiative.
Alpha Kappa Alpha exposes students to arts enrichment and culture past focusing on visual and performing arts through Target IV: The Arts ! With an accent on the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Arts Movement, our chapter champions activities and community events that showcase the artistic talents of center and high school students while bringing awareness to the critical role that the Harlem Renaissance and Black Arts movement played in the development of African-American art and culture.
Target Five: Global Affect continues the sorority's focus on Global Assistance Activities. The Capacity make an international bear on by engaging in global projects that aid underserved international areas populated with people of color.
Another highlight of the Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service assistants will be Community Impact Days when chapters will implement initiatives annually on the same day worldwide, to demonstrate Alpha Kappa Blastoff'southward collective bear on.
